Caught on camera. Why is video so important for marketing?

When it comes to boosting brand awareness and connecting with your target market, video is hard to beat. Posting video on your website dramatically increases the amount of time a visitor is likely to spend on the site. Including video content demonstrates to search engines that you are providing good quality content that is likely to mean visitors will spend longer on your site. This will boost your ranking. When it comes to social media, it’s by now quite widely known that including video on posts boosts the number of views by nearly 50%.

Why is video such an effective form of marketing?

We are a very visual species and the majority of us are visual learners. Videos are twelve times more likely to be watched than text is to be read. By next year there will be nearly one million minutes of video crossing the internet every second. By 2022 online videos will make up over 80% of all consumer internet traffic – 15 times more than two years ago.

Aside from the boosts to traffic to your website and click throughs on your social media, which build brand awareness and engagement, and is vitally important, there is a very simple benefit to be had from video. It is a great way to communicate really complex ideas in a very simple way. Viewers will not just watch, share and like your videos, they will gain greater understanding from them of what you are trying to communicate. Apparently viewers are likely to remember 95% of a message from a video as opposed to just 10% if they read it in text form.

If you are looking for a way to connect with your target audience, you should be considering implementing a video marketing strategy. The applications for video are seemingly endless, from ‘how to’ tutorials, presentations, interviews and testimonials to blogs, webinars and live streaming events. Talk to the Zebra team to find out how you can make it work best for you.
