Creating a better society

Zebra has been shortlisted for the Communications Agency of the Year award at the Better Society awards. The awards, organised by leading third sector publication Charity Times, will take place at a Gala Dinner held on Thursday 14 May at the prestigious Millennium Hotel, Mayfair London.

This is the first year of the awards, which have been created to acknowledge ‘the efforts that commercial companies make in order to help create a better society for all’. The Communications Agency of the Year category recognises the role that the advisers play in creating effective and enduring messages by providing expert guidance and services. Also shortlisted are Be Inspired Films, Impact PR & Marketing, Livity and PLMR (Political Lobbying and Media Relations).

For us, supporting charities has always been an integral part of our work ethic. Since 2008, our Director, Clara, has been a trustee for local charity Empowering Youth Foundation (EYF). When she established the business in 2010, Clara decided to be as hands-on as she could with the charity, meaning the business was integrated with the EYF team from the off.  Since then, we have raised almost £5,000, provided ongoing marketing and PR services to its staff and shared our expertise to help grow the charity and its brand.

Clara Commented: “We now work with four local and independent charities, who have each improved their understanding and execution of effective brand communication. As well as EYF, Barnstondale, Wirral Mencap and Stick ‘n’ Step each receive mentoring and training from us, in addition to our professional services, and the results are telling. All three charities feature heavily in their local press and have won a number of awards. We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this award and can’t wait to hear the outcome in May.”
