It's August - time to take stock
(Posted on 17/08/17)
Unless you work in the tourist industry, August is quite likely to be a quiet time for you work-wise, with a large proportion of employees taking their long-awaited two week holiday. If you find the quiet period unnerving rather than relaxing, bear in mind it is quite usual for activity across many sectors to slacken during this month. It may be quite tempting for those still at their desks to kick back and enjoy the relative peace and quiet with fewer phone calls and a less cluttered email in-box before the ‘back to school’ rush of September.
Although you should certainly be relishing a period of calm, our advice would be to use the time wisely and embrace the opportunities it brings. Now is the time to plan ahead for the rest of the year. What marketing activity do you need to fit in before Christmas? Are you planning on creating bespoke Christmas gifts for your customers? If so, now is the time to be thinking how you want to brief your designers so you benefit from the best prices and avoid a last minute expensive panic later in the year. Perhaps you are planning on producing a customer newsletter before the end of the year. If so, start to work on a schedule for it now so it can be issued in plenty of time and not get swamped and ignored by the Christmas post.
